I was going to say same thing. I pay extra for an agreed value which IMO is a reasonable replacement like for like. Agent never even questioned.

The gloom and doom was pretty funny. I totally get that we are in a slowdown and some brands / dealers might go away, but its not near as dire as they made it out to be. I think the original point of the post was that the OP wasn't able to sell his boat for covid pricing

20 year old boats in good shape float as good as any. With new boats, rigged out nicely, over the $100,000 mark , a nice older boat can look really good.

But when all is said and done the market value for used boats will determine their worth. What ever the market will bear.

I have 98 Skeeter loaded with nice electronics and nice trolling motor. For me and my needs it's really a good boat. Fish on average 60 days a year. The rebuilt HPPI has yet to fail me. It suits me fine. not for sale. I've owned new bass boats, Ranger and Skeeter. Can't say they made me any happier than I am with this old tub. Remolded stem to stern and a few years ago.

No need to impress anyone by spending a lot of money on a bass boat. Could buy a new one and then I'd be out a lot of money for a new bass boat. I'm happy with what I have.

That was quite the read. The only thing I really got out of it was; Let me know not to ever buy one of your boats, without actually saying don't buy one of your boats. That guy must be harder on any boat than Iaconelli.

I have done that for years, I have even had guy's want to give me a deposit for first on the list if I ever sell. A 2000 Lund 2025 ProVle-225 EFI Merc.- 9.9 4s Merc- Canon electric riggers etc. The 9.9 kicker has more hours than the big motor. It has only been out of storage once a year for service the past 5 or 6 years.

I bought a 2003 Tr-21 fo replace my 19 footer. Needed some extra room with the grandkids. The Ole guy had a 2007 Merc 250 Opti on it with 65 hours. I saw it on here. He had heart trouble and had not been using it for some time...It was in excellent shape, older electronics. He wanted 23,000 for ut and I offered 21,000. He said no. Called me back after a couple weeks and agreed to 21,000. First thing I did was sell the Merc 2 stroke and bought a Merc 250 four stroke. Updated the electronics and troll motor. This rig should take me to the happy fishing grounds. No need to pay 100,000 for a new one. This one performs great.

If your 20 year old truck only got used 10-20 hours per year like 95% of boat owners boats,it to would still bring good coin.

Sounds like some nice setups are hitting the market along with big loses for some sellers.

There aren’t any 5 grand trucks other than complete junk.
if it runs and everything works no matter the miles you can get close to 10 grand

I’ve got a 99 221 Champion 300MercX original boat. 20K wouldn’t touch it. It would take 70-80K to replace it. I tell people if you buy new a quality boat and take care of it will last you a very long time.

I have a 2004 Ranger 195vx with a 200 Opti and 350 hours it. It’s in excellent condition. It has all the original electronics on it (Minnkota and Lowrance). I have not added anything. Original, brand new, out the door price was $32k. If I listed it for $20k tonight, I would need crowd control in the morning for all of the buyers.

The people that believe that soon boats will be pennies on the dollar are the same ones that believe if everyone just held off buying a boat for 6 months the manufacturers would drop prices 50%

I think that lightly used boat values were greatly inflated during peak covid stupidity, and its just returning to normal. When guys list their boats for reasonable prices they are still selling quick, look at Ken Smith's Lynx, he listed a fair price and almost instantly gone.
