$600M sounds like a lot but after taxes it is only about half.

So do you feel the same way about Rory, who is 5 years older than Jon R? I suppose Scotty Scheffler only has a couple more years before he should throw in the towel? This is a laughable point you are making. Sounds like we need to lower the age of the senior tour to what? 30?

Heard he hired Hunters Accountants. No taxes paid.

Wonder how long before Rory signs with them.

That is 100% what it is. I don't blame him one bit for doing it. He will be the best player out there by a considerable margin. He will a ton of money in tournament play.

Meh... Bryson, Brooks, Johnson, Cam Smith... He's probably the best right right now there. But he won't win all the time. The argument that the best only play on the PGA is getting harder to make for the tour. The PGA tour probably needs to make this deal with PIF in a fashion that is favorable to the tour. Each player leaving, and apparently there's more going is going to make it look more shaky. If Monahan would of just met with them upfront and made space for the players to play in both, which is all they wanted, just like they do with many other tours this wouldn't have even been an issue. Now he is going to end up in bed with them. LIV is basically a few more top players and a better TV deal in America from really causing them issues with sponsors. A good many of their current sponsors are currently in bed with the Saudis already. Monahan seriously underestimated what he was up against.

Of these 4 only DJ in his prime is as good of a golfer as Rahm.

Of course not, but no one made that assertion.

Quick search showed he is Spanish. Looks like 45% tax rate. Poor guy may not be able to make ends meet.

I read a ESPN article saying the main reason the PGA tour was open to a merger with LIV was that the PGA tour is in serious financial trouble. I don't see how, but that's what was claimed. Something about the sponsors not wanting to support both tours, and since all the sponsors are invested in the Saudi funds anyway. Making the PGA's claims that the LIV money is "dirty" not true.

    I read something similar.

As far as Rahmbo, I don't blame him. He just won the masters and has qualified to play in all PGA Major events. Why not take the LIV money and continue to play the majors which is what the majority of fans care about anyways outside of maybe the Players Championship.

In an effort to stop the bleed of players going to LIV, the tour dipped into their reserves to find more money for the players. They also were betting on sponsorships that they hadn't secured yet. Obviously I don't know for sure, but I would assume they are on shaky financial ground. It sounds like slicefixer is a coach to some tour players so he may have heard something.

Trying to fight LIV monetarily is a losing battle.

He’s made $51 million over his PGA CAREER. He’s getting $556 million just to go play on the tour. Not counting what he actually wins. Tell me you wouldn’t go and I’ll call you liar. Lol.

Absolutely zero grudges for guys going to LIV to get the big checks, especially after all the merger talk. I mean our favorite bassin bros left BASS just because of a hell of a sales pitch from everyone's favorite, Boyd
