For the record, I was born and raised in Jersey and there is no way in hell I would fish in that stuff.

Been there and done that. It was mid November in 2015. No wind just a straight down snow. Caught close to 40 fish in about 6 hours. Best 5 smallies went 24lbs. It was a day I will never forget. Also had a day like that in early june the following year. We went up to fish 2 days of club tournaments. We decided to have a noon to 7pm tournament on a saturday as the lakes we were fishing were about a 3 hour drive. It was misty and rainy when we left and temps kept falling. Boat covers were froze on when we got to the lake to launch and boats floated the trailers for about 10 seconds before thawing and comming free. About 3pm it started snowing. It was crazy catching bass guarding fry in 65 degree water and snow falling.

On Lake Superior, 2 weeks ago. Temp when we launched was 27, high temp was a balmy 37, taking waves over the front all day long. We had over 40 in the boat between 2 guys, smallest was 2.25, next smallest was 2.75, and I'm fairly confident those were the only two we caught that were under 3. We probably had 12 or 15 over 4, and any 5 out of the 40 would've gone 15 lbs or better. Casting gear, heavy line, giving them the business too! No forward facing sonar (unless you count 360 which was only used for finding the right structure), and no Alabama rigs. Best part? Not a single other boat on the water. This was a relatively slow day for the time of year, by the way!

I’ll take a snowy day on the lake alone any day of the week over the miserable heat, human and bug infestation!

If I get a calm snowy day this winter I'm game to give it a try. A few years ago I watched an angler in front of my place catch one striper after another during a heavy snowfall and he was certainly having a good time. One time in late Ontario it started to snow and I anxiously awaited for the fish to "turn on". It did not happen so I'm due.

I caught my largest SM ever (5lb,13oz.) in a club tournament in mid-Nov. many years ago. We came in second, had 3 inches of snow before the morning launch and I don't have a picture of that big bass because it was too cold for anybody's camera to work. The latest I go out now is about mid-Oct and don't ice fish anymore either !

They just put salt on the roads so its over for me. No reason to get salt on a bass boat trailer. Also saw skim ice on my local lake this morning. I'll wait till march
