    removing top eye from rod?

What is the best way to remove a tip eye from a rod? The plastic inside came out of the middle of the eye and now I have to replace it.

Re: removing top eye from rod? (FastCat 250)

Even a birthday candle works - it doesn't take much heat, and using a candle leaves both hands free. I like to hold the blank with one hand and be pulling lightly with a pliers on the guide with the other hand as I put the guide near the flame. This way I can get the guide off with the least heat possible to avoid heating the blank.

As to putting on the new guide, be sure the stick type "tip top adhesive" and NOT super glue, etc. Something like this http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/r....aspx It should also be available at most larger tackle stores.

    Good luck.

Glad to hear it worked good for you. For me anyway, a candle works the best to avoid overheating the blank and to not burning my fingers. It also works well for fine tuning the new top guide so that it's straight with the others.
