    Spot lock and Carbon questions?

Fishing and heading towards a waypoint on my unit , I hit spot lock was about 50’ away from waypoint on Carbon then after the spot lock anchored itself the waypoint was no longer in front of my bow but now either to the left or the right How can I correct this and keep it in front of the bow ? Is this the Carbon or Ultrex causing this??

First if I am understanding there is no connection possilbe between a Minn Kota and Lowrance product so its all Minn Kota that is the issue.

Were you heading directly into the wind, if there was any?

This is the nature of GPS and why a heading sensor is essential if fishing waypoints at rest. Any current or wind motion will trick the unit into thinking it is now moving that direction. If you have the map set to Heading Up, the unit will spin the map to correspond to the “new” heading. A heading sensor aligns the unit with the bow of the boat regardless of incidental movement.

Heading Up is correct IF you have a functional heading sensor providing sensor data.

Unless you spot lock with the bow facing the wind or current your waypoint isn't going to stay in front of you.

The Carbon has nothing to do with your Ultrex.

Will check to see that the point one is set for heading data and heading up is still set right , also and make more of a conscious of heading straight into the wind next time I go and try to spot lock to fish a waypoint ..

Your Point-1 must not be working properly. Check your settings to verify all units are using the Point-1 as the source for Heading (under Vessel).

Follow the settings in this article for both your bow and console units:

Set up just like you described it your article , I think you helped me set it up before when I had questions. Might look into how I’m positioned in the wind the next time and see if that makes a difference
