    Lure Retriever

Has anyone used the Leland's Loc n' Knoc Lure Retriever? I just read a review on Wired2fish about it and was really intrigued by it.

No need to spend a bunch of money….a 3 ounce sinker and any old clip, even a paper clip, and you have the best lure knocker that $0.89 can buy.

Agree with Soonerfan. Make your own w/ 2 or 3 oz sinkers & a heavy snap.

    Ole’ Roy…
A local guy figured out years ago the perfect weight for retrieving a crank bait was appx. 3.25 ounces. He made his own with a snap swivel, carved his name in it (Roy) and sold them by the dozens at 50 cents each back then. JawTec took it and named it ole’ Roy and sold hundreds, but made it in brass. Cost and weight wasn’t as effective, but sold hundreds.

    simplicity is a good thing.

I use the hound dog for crankbaits and the golden retriever for A rigs. I'm going to make some of the clip on lead weights to see how they work.

Same. This gets most things unsnagged for me. I also bought a pole retriever from BassPro this year. It can be a bit unwieldy at times, but I like it. For $30, it made its money back in just a couple trips.

Everyone has and old reel they don't use anymore, a broken rod. 8oz sinker, heavy duty clips, 50lb braid and some chain. Chain may catch the treble hooks on lure.

The "Toothy Fishman" one is really good if you don't like the standard plug knocker style. Same idea as a lot of ones above, basically incorporating all the components. Made by a guy in WI, but Tackle Warehouse sells them now. Learned about it from local muskie anglers originally, and it's since been latched onto by the guys throwing $500+ swimbaits that are only available on drops and that sell out in seconds. If it's good enough for them, it's gotta be good enough for just about anything.

Fifty bucks I remember when I was a kid fishing off the docks for Crappie or whatever came along, we used old spark plugs for knockers. The gas station would give you a whole bucket of them and thank you for hauling them off.
