I'll vouch for this rod especially at this sale price ($99 free delivery). Quite a few various lengths and actions available. Personally in the northern waters I fish I'd be going 7'6" ML fast but you mentioned backbone and not everyone likes long sticks. Also their fast (as opposed to X fast) is on the edge of X fast IMHO.

The St. Croix Bass X for $125 are pretty nice. Come in three lengths and a bunch of different actions. If backbone I'd go like M F or EF. Maybe LBF still has their sale on.

Daiwa Tatula XT 7'3" Medium. Amazing spinning rod at that price point.

St Croix BassX is a good option around $100. Also a Falcon BuCoo, Fenwick Eagle, or an ARK Lancer would be my choices

I build my own rods, but kept a few factory, including a Tatula XT 7’ ML spinning rod. It is a great rod for the money and just feels good in my hands.
