    Lowrance Ghost belt replacement

After 2 yrs plus I finally have a motor issue. One lake I fish has a ton of just submerged standing timber and I’ve hit my share. I’m sure it’s taken a toll on the belt and it’s finally failed. Anyway I’m in the process of replacing it. On the pulleys that it runs on I see no timing marks so I’m assuming when I reassemble it, it won’t make any difference where they are in reference to one another. Anyone have any experience that I should know before it goes back together?
    Thanks to all!

I'm kinda interested in this also. There is not a whole lot of info about working on your Ghost. I just replaced the bushings on the mount and couldn't even find a parts diagram with part numbers.

I,ve got the belt coming, says it will arrive today? Pretty quick! I did call Lowrance this morning to ask about the line up of the drive and shaft gears. To my surprise I got right thru to them!. When I get it done and back together and working I’ll post a few pics so maybe the next guy will have a little head start?

Have you had a chance to do the belt yet?

Yes , little to no trouble but there is a lineup marker on each pulley you need to have pointing at each other.

FWIW, I called Lowrance recently to get a replacement pull cable, as mine broke yet again... and I asked about sending me out a belt. They advised they would but it would void the warranty if "I" replaced it (vs an ASC), since apparently opening the top cover voids the warranty. So I decided not to order one - didn't want it on my "history" where they might be able to get out of some future warranty work or part replacement etc (which seems to be a common issue/need for the Ghost ). They are relatively inexpensive so I'll just order one from TMS so I'll have one. Another spare part to keep on hand lol. Let's see, I have spare rope, spare strap, spare clutch, spare piston, spare pivot rod, spare top and waterproof seal... sheesh.

TLDR... Should have waited and bought the Quest lol.

Directional indicator out of alignment with prop (more than the usual amount) or not keeping the same alignment; or noise from the head sounding like a belt "skipping" over the plastic teeth of the gearing, etc are the usual signs. It's not something that is very common, unless the TM has taken a solid hit from tagging a stump or log, etc.

Oh trust me it’s taken plenty of solid hits. Tidal river shallow water is brutal. I have not noticed any of those but I have not paid attention. Also I feel like the motor isn’t as powerful as it should be or used to be. My buddy has the same boat and ghost and his feels more powerful to me or so it seems… I got new batteries a month ago after the old ones were only 3 years old.. the motor didn’t die but they would lose strength in a tournament. Could the lower unit be weak from hitting stumps and logs? If so that would draw the batteries down I’m sure.
