Replacemet value for items in the boat

Getting my first boat and am working on insurance items. I want to make sure all of my rods, reels, tackle, etc are covered
incase of accident or theft. What amount are you guys putting for replacement cost? Rods and reels are not hard to figure out
but figuring out to all the tackle is a bit tougher. Do you include rain gear, tools, nets, etc? I'm sure there is a wide variance
depending on peoples gear but just was curious of some of your amounts.

    Thanks in advance!

Rods and reels and other add-ons (electronics) are under your homeowners insurance. Give them the normal retail price and they will adjust downward.

I believe homeowners might cover if the boat fall victim on your property. Away from the home you need an endorsement on your boat policy. I took pictures of all my tackle and rods. I opened each tray and photographed it with a 3X5 depicting the value. photographed all my fish finders and included serial numbers etc. I also have all the receipts for all my stuff too. CYA is the deal.

Check with homeowners for payouts amounts. I had a bass boat hit by a stolen car being chased by the cops in my yard. The max payout on homeowners is 1500 for a boat.

Tackle is tuff, u will have to guestimate the value. Insurance policies all differ, talk to your agent. This is the questions I ask all insurance agents. Not all agents know the right answer when rods and tackle get stolen & what if electronics get ripped off the boat .

Had total loss in fire driving home from tournament last June 2023 after trailer bunk bracket weld broke. Investigation results:

    Boat slid against fiberglass fender.
    Fender slid against tire.
    Saw smoke and thought WTF?
Pulled off Hwy in grass & by the time I got to right trailer wheel there were flames 2’ tall.
Grabbed the FULLY CHARGED extinguisher & pulled pin. phfft. Fire fighter asked if I ever shook it before because contents solidifies. Answer was nope.

    2002 Ranger 185DVS, 2018 175 Opti. I had $2500 for contents & 15k for boat. I figured contents with electronics close to $30,000.

Yeah … it’ll never happen to me. Bullshit

Bought another Ranger but this time $10,000 on contents.

Progressive was very helpful. ZERO claims with them over 22 yrs.

Homeowners insurance may cover something but it better be on your property.

I have honestly seen this incorrect statement so many times on boat forums it blows my mind. Check your policy language under Coverage C on your homeowners and talk to your agent, but a standard ISO HO3 most definitely covers personal property "anywhere in the world". Now you can have limits placed on the coverage and exclusions of that property.
