    Power pole move?

I don’t see much talk about the pp move. I am getting ready to replace my 5 year old Ultrex. I was considering the Move after watching some videos and reading alot of positive reviews. Is there issues with it that I am not aware of? I have watched one video that did point out some definite concerns, but overall seemed very good. Anyone have any reviews or helpful suggestions?

When dialed-in and working as it should the motor is great...quiet, powerful, responsive. Does everything PP says it will do. The motor can be a bit quirky though, which requires setting adjustments via the app. Amazing customer service - the best I've had for any purchase. Overall, I'd buy it again and happy with my decision. With that said, my fishing buddy who runs an Ultrex doesn't like it as much as his Ultrex...but I don't like his Ultrex. lol

It’s probably the best one out there. Worth 5k? Your call.

This is funny.. " when dialed in and working as it should the motor is great." Can that not be said about everything.? When it works, it works great..!

Just swapped the Ghost for one. Best trolling motor that I have ever owned - which is about 20 motors over the last fifty years. Very quiet with a well built bracket.

Been checking youtube last several months and surprisingly not a lot of new videos. Was hoping to find a black Friday sale but didn't. The couple of places I was checking showed the 45" in-stock before Thanksgiving and out-of-stock afterwards. Someone is buying them

Powerpole rarely sells anything below msrp.
The only complaint is the price, $5k is a lot of money for the weekend angler.

I waited almost a year on the Power Pole Move to come out and once i got to see it in person it totally turned me off and it wasn't because of the price. A few things that turned me away were the mount for starters. Every other TM maker pretty much standardized their mount pattern. PP had to make theirs different but hey, for only $300 more we'll sell you an adapter so your bow don't look like sh!t from where your old TM was. Next turn off is the power panel. Its external from the pedal which means more holes to drill and wires to run. Totally unnecessary. Now for the pedal itself. Why in the world did they make the controls (spotlock, reverse, PP control) external stomp switches instead of incorperating them into the pedal like everyone else does for a reason. Just more sh!t on deck to get in the way. Next up is the head of the trolling motor. No indicator of which way its pointing. and being round don't help when you make a quick glance. Will be a PIA with livescope. Lastly and this is a biggie. Don't dare roll up too close into rocks or brush and think you'll just pull the cord on the tm to back out without tearing up your prop. Soon as you grab that handle and unlock the tm it cuts the power to the prop. Not good in these brush filled rock holes they call lakes out here in West Texas. I went with a Quest and don’t regret my decision one bit.

That just didn't sound right to me so I sent them an email asking if that is true. I've had excellent response from Power Pole on two other emails I've sent them with questions about the Move. Here is the response to my question regarding the above:

" When the lift cable is pulled, the motor does not stop until it is slightly greater than 50% stowed.
I just tested it and if you are wanting to pull it up / partially stow a little bit to get in skinnier water/ retrieve a hung up bait- the motor would still operate given you have not stowed it past a certain degree.
There is a sensor in the head that determines when the motor stops based on the degree/tilt of the navigation head."

It's the best motor I've owned. Super powerful and lightweight. The mount is very stout and low to the gunnel which is great for visibility. On my Ultrex I was always accidentally hitting the constant on or North button. I like that they removed the switches from the pedal for that reason. I personally have zero problem understanding what direction the motor is pointing for FFS. Oh.... it's 30lbs lighter! I'll probably change the handle on the cord... it's a little uncomfortable. Other than that two thumbs up!

I just bought one and agree with the above. My only complaint is that I do not think the lift assist is not strong enough making it heavier to deploy.

Another issue is when they break no one has parts and very few actually service them.

I wonder if there is a program to adjust the amount of angle on the stow before it cuts off am glad this conversation continues. I fish a lot of skinny water and that was a no go for me.

Great idea if you are fishing thin water all day but if you have to lift the motor fast and get out of whatever you have gotten yourself in you need to lift the motor fast and it run.

Not really - obviously not a shallow water fisherman lol. There are days when I pull my TM partially up 30-40 times or more even down here in Florida manuvering around stuff or getting back out of areas, trying to cut/sling off weeds and grass, etc. But if all you fish are deep reserviors and such then yeah it's probably non as big of an issue.

The problem with the move is the motor is not round so you can’t mount an external transducer puck.

It's a little tricky but you can mount a puck on the Move. I have a Garmin transducer on mine.
