Poison Tail Jig Mold Questions

I am planning on rodering this Mold for my Birthday but have a few questions.

Would I be able to use a 2/0 hook on the 1/8th OZ Jigs? I know it says 1/0 but that seems a little small to me. Or is the 1/0 hooks fine?

Also when I used the Powder Paint do I paint it with the Advesive eyes on or put those on after the painting?

Any other tips would be appreciated!

I like bigger hooks in my baits. It should fit. But if not, Make it fit. Either by putting it in the cavity and slamming the mold closed or while the hook is in the mold closed, I'll clap two molds together etc...

The eyes will need to go on after the paint. If you clearcoat them like I do, Thats what keeps the eyes on good.

BTW... I have that mold and I hate those hooks... I have missed more fish on that style hook bend than anything. I believe they now offer the round bend in the 28*-30* eye... Just passing on my experiences.

Thanks for the info that helps a lot!! I have been debating using that particular mold for a little while not because of the hook style I may go with the round bend one instead.

The 2/0 will not fit. The mold has to be "carved" on a little bit. The throat of the hook hits the mold. Grab a Dremel and have at it. I used a file and it took me all of 5 minutes to modify. A dremel will cut that time in half. I use a size bigger than is called for in each of the cavities and they all work great. AWESOME jig by the way!

I use powder paint and after I cure the paint, I apply the 3-D eyes with a VERY small drop of Super glue. I have knocked all the paint of some heads and the eyes are still attached!
