Pretty sure Mercury’s opinion is it’ll void your warranty. At least that’s what I remember Don saying when this question comes up in the Mercury 4 Stroke forum.
I’ve been running 2 deg. Wedges on my 300r for 4 yrs with no issues.

You look at a Mercury wrong and they will void the warranty.![]()
Amen. I like Don but that is the answer to just about everything.
I ran wedges on my 300R XB21. They hurt nothing from a performance perspective and only have upside in my opinion. I ran them on my LCB as well. Bobs makes an angled washer kit for them.

I just don’t see they’re necessary with a 300 or a 250 for that matter. A wedge offers 2 things; better hole shot and/or limits trim angle. A 300r should launch an Allison like a drag boat. Why would you need more tuck under?
I guess you could say wedges offer more setback if you want to get technical. Potentially losing warranty over something totally not necessary makes no sense to me or adding complexity for using them seems unnecessary with that kind of torque at your disposal.
I'm wanting to add wedges because I'm trying to improve my hole shot. That's the only thing my boat lacks when I compare it to my previous boat. The hole shot now is slower than my previous was with the same load and it hat power poles on it also. I just added poles to my Allison so I know it will suffer even more now.

I would add wedges. It hurts nothing. Technically it is more setback, but its a insignificant amount. The wedge isn't thick enough to make a huge setback difference and hurt performance. Not to mention the tipping point on too much setback is much farther back than you are running.
With this motor and boat you should have plenty of trim left, so running out of trim room because of the wedge isn't a concern. It will add a 1/2 second to act of trimming. If you are not racing that isn't a big deal.
I ran them for years on my old Allison XB21. I liked them so much I had them built into my jackplate spacer so I could sandwich the power pole brackets instead of the wedges.
So, in summary, I would add them.
