I am not an anti hotfoot guy. I have used them and not used them. What I am anti is the crowd that says they are a safety device. They are not. They are a mechanical device that can and will fail. They should never be considered a “safety device.” If you want to use one, fine, but do not rely on one as a safety item. An operational kill switch and life vest are the proper items.

That totally stinks
Don't worry Ma'am....
I'm only here for the Bass.
That's one of the reasons I don't power load my boat....

I broke one during a long run in a tournament last year. Used the toe clip to finish the tournament and bought a spare when I bought the replacement.

Don't have a Hotfoot on my boat, but if I did, I'd have at least 2 or 3 spares on board and never remove the toe clip.
It happens, i have experienced throttle sticking, and one time throttle linkage breaking when running full throttle.
Full throttle would not get be over my bow stop unless I was too deep.
Glad your ok

Had one break in shallow water with lots of islands around once.. after the panic of oh shit I can't stop subsided I trimmed all the way down and pulled kill switch. I will always keep a spare. It was a pain in the ass to bend my old one so it fit
