Suggestions for Mid-March - Mid April.

Looking at being in the Cincinnati / Loveland area for the above mentioned spring time frame.
What fishing opportunities area there in that near area? Not just Bass fishing as I would be up Bluegills, Perch, Bass, Pike, using regular equipment or Fly Rods.
If I had to pick one, Fly Rod for the Bluegills, BUT, I will be happy with any suggestions.
OH or KY near that Loveland / Cinny area.

    Thanks Bob

Too early for much here. Maybe crappie and blue gills. Lakes can still be low or real cold depending on weather mid late april it usually takes off some

A good chance all lakes and rivers will be a muddy cold mess that time frame.

No choice on the time frame, but a choice if I go. What about some of those State Parks holding Bluegills that time of year?
So wondering, IF I go, take the yak, pond boat, or the RT?

Blue gill might be on the tougher side due to March has been pretty cold the last few years. But if the weather is on a warming trend Rocky fork can be awesome and east fork lake can be fun with a crank bait. Most farm ponds will still be hard till early April.

We aren't in Minnesota Brian. Last few years the ponds have barely frozen over at all, let alone for a few weeks at a time. Latest I have ever ice fished a pond in SW Ohio was March 1. The next day the ice was junk.

Unless you were talking talking hard as in difficult, but I would still disagree. Very early spring can be great on ponds.

I’m not saying we will have deep freeze and get back to the ice age in 2024 but the last few years March has sucked around here till the end of the month. I really hope it don’t get cold enough for anything to freeze and the OP gets to fish everything he wants how ever he wants to catch them. I do agree with you soon as the ice is gone on pond’s/small lakes can be a ball. The lake in my grandparents front yard is great till it gets ice in the fall and soon as the ice melts if it freezes. Pond fish like to get shallow fast.
