    Help getting started

Would someone please tell me a decent airbrush and all the equipment i would need to get started (paashe, badger, iwata, thayer and chandler) What paints, decent priced compressor, hoses and accessories would i need? I would be willing to spend around 200 dollars if I could get by with that. Thanks, Drew. I have looked at the dixiearts website and just dont know what all I would need.

Well, after looking at the compressors I can see I might have to go over 200 lol. Just let me know what you guys think I could get by with and let me know everything I will need cause as of now I really dont know much of anything about it. Thanks, Drew. Or would I be better of buying a starter kit?

Drew I would skip the air brush compressors for the simple fact thats pretty much all their good for. Try to find something like the craftsman 4 gal-1 hp pancake compressor (189.00)...it could be used for a variety of things(tires, nailers etc...) that way you'll get more out of your investment,Im sure you can get one (different brand)pretty cheap, next you'll need a regulator to control your psi,as far as brushes start cheap, a paasche vl starter kit can be had for around 60.00 and will give you the hose needed and 3 sizes of needles for different paint coverage. The Iwatas are super brushes but are not cheap to start.
Paint I use createx, its water based and cleans up easy

I found a really good Craftsman 1.5 hp on sale for $99, so I picked it up. Great call on getting one that you can use for other projects as well!! Now to pick up the airbrush kit online @ Dixie. $65 there, at the Hobby Lobby here the same kit is $99.. . I'm now looking around now th build a good drying wheel. Need to find a good motor or rotissre motor. any suggestions would help

I use a medical compressor that we had gotten for my son when he was born. it was for a nebulizer that we had because he was weazsy. I figured since the insurance company paid for it and we didn't need it any more I would use it to power my paasche. Works like a champ. I also called the in laws and found two rotisserie motors that had been bought with grills and never used. If you do some searching I am sure that you could find this stuff cheap.

Agree with Ky about not getting an airbrush compressor. Lowes has a nice Bostich compressor that comes with a brad nailer and another nailer. It sells for 269 I believe. I have been painting about 3 weeks. I got a Paasche VL from Northern tool for 69.99. I have been using Createx air brush paint. I am not the best painter but am improving.
