    Spacers again!

    Now that the motor is running right, I’m going to put the 2” spacers back on. With everyone saying the boat is perfect with 12” setback and regular batteries, 14” has to be better with lithium setup. Has anyone played around with this? Not hearsay from second hand information but real world experience/knowledge because you tried it?

    Someone ran 14" setback on a 921 or 21phx. I can't remember exactly who.
    I believe he removed the spacers because the rear of the boat was squirrelly at high speeds. Hopefully he chimes in and can give you exact details.

    I vaguely remember reading something along those lines. I also vaguely remember he took them off and put them back on because he lost the gains the 14" gave him. It was a engine height or prop that was giving him the squirely issues. Hopefully he'll see this.

    I found this and it's from "fidgetcranker". Don't know what batteries he was running but with the 2" more built-in setback of the yamaha put him at basically 16" overall.

    I actually added 2" spacers for more     setback to = 14" overall, and performance & speed improved. Lower rooster and 2-3 more mph. However, it IS harder to drive and took me awhile to get it under control, and figure out the new JP settings to run it by. On long wide turns (like a river bend) I had, and still have, a hard time not wobbling, almost a "porpoise" type movement, unless I slow down. Not sure if it's actual "chine", but when I straighten out it goes away. I don't recall that happening before the spacers.

    I removed the 2" spacers after about 4 months because I forgot how my boat handled before, and wanted to be sure they were helping...They were, and are going to be put back on.

    I forgot about the Yamaha supposed built in extra 2" of setback. In that case if OP is running a mercury I'm technically running 14" of setback with 12" of plate on my 721, but I don't have lithiums.

    Yamaha is 2" more than the Merc proxs 2 stroke , never confirmed if the 4 stroke was deferent, I know there was some discussion but I never had a chance to check one myself

    I'm running 2" spacers on a 10" atlas. No issues safety wise but I'll be removing them sometime this winter and replacing with wedges due to needing more trim.

    You can take the wedges to a machine shop and have them angle cut one side on 5deg angle. Then you just need to get the angle washers. Best of both worlds.

    I've thought about doing this but with the way machine shops I've used around here for work have been, I'd have the motor hanging by a hoist for a week waiting on them to get around to the 10 minute job of cutting them.

    No update yet. Went fishing yesterday but the wife came with me and she was freezing so didn't get a chance to open it up. It did appear that I'll have more lift. Also, typically if I'm turning 4500rpms, my speed is about 51-52. Yesterday with the spacers, it was 54-55. Will try to run it this week to get some topend numbers.

    Well ran it with the spacers today and really can’t say it helped or hurt. Slightly better lift and probably more lift when cruising. Ran a BnB 23 fury and it ran 73.5-74 turning 6150. Prior to this wkd, this prop without spacers ran 72.9 down river and 71ish up river so I guess it's probably a little faster with the spacers. Yesterday I ran a 24 BnB fury by someone else and it only ran 72.5 at 5775. I really like this 23. Does everything very good. Im gonna leave the spacers on until I run my BnB 25 fury. Last time I ran it without the spacers it ran 75 turning 5750 90+ temps.

    Ran the 25 fury and basically ran the same so the spacers are coming off cause I feel it did loose a little holeshot. Also, just like it did the first time I ran the spacers, it developed a porpoise at low speeds 25-35mph. Don't like that.

    Didn't mess with the sand but do have a 50lb bag of lead shot coming to place in bilge compartment.
