    Jika Rig

Are you guys having any or have had any luck with the Jika rig? I thing BPS is selling them as their Owner Jig Rig. Last year I fished a home made Jika with a Yamamoto creature bait in Green with black flake and never got a bump. I wonder if you guys were using this and what were you throwing on the rig, Thanks

Lizard or a Brush Hog has worked well for me. I fish a Jika rig instead of a texas rig on one of my worm rods now.

    Re: Jika Rig (javelinbill)

I have made several of these up but haven't gotten any of them wet yet. I used slim drop shot weights and a #1 split ring to the weight and #2 to the hooks. I've made 1/2 oz. - 5/0 for bigger craws and lizzies, 3/16 - 3/0 for regular craws and lizzies, 3/16 - 1/0 for baby craws and baby brush hogs. Got slim weights now in 3/38, 1/4. and even 1/8 oz. sizes. Plenty of split rings, so experimentation will definitely be in the works for this rig. High hopes though.

Got about 20 made up so far. Hooks are Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp.....5/0, 3/0, and 1/0. Weights are 1/2 oz., 3/8, 3/16, and 1/8. #2 split ring to the hook and #1 to the weight.

Not at all. I also make my own like pictured above. I've used some of the skinny drop shot weights, and I like using the bass casting tear drop weights. Casts a mile.

I purchased 100 each of the #2 and #1 split rings for about $10, the drop shot weights I get for $7.50 per 25, and since I'm using Eagle Claw Laser Sharp hooks that makes my cost per rig pretty low. Oh yea.....I did have to get some split ring pliers since I didn't already have some, I think they were about $4.50. Most of this comes from Ebay.
I suppose if a guy used the Gammy SuperLine hooks and tungsten weights you could tie up a lot of bucks in one Jika Rig but.....why?

This is what I plan on doing, I bought some of the casting weights and my buddy makes the skinny drop shot weights so I'm good now. Thanks Skydiver!!!!

    Re: Jika Rig (Skydiver107)

Try putting a football jig with whatever soft plastic on the bottom and about a foot up, tie on the Jika rig minus the weight with what ever soft plastic. If season ever starts here in Mi., I'll try that. Preferably with some floating soft plastic on the Jika. Take off the worm hook and use a dropshot hook. Experiment!!!!!!!!!
