    Lower unit break in

Does a new lower unit require some type of break in period and method? If so, what is it?

Is it a new BRP case or a reman?

NO full throttle for at least 20 hours, then you have to send LJ 25 bucks, and buy Won Hunglo a new inflatable toy.

Re: Lower unit break in (RUSTY63)

Rusty, I have been told that it is brand new case, but I'm not sure if it is from BRP or a 3rd party. They couldn't find a reman the other day when the adjuster was there, so he ok'd a new lower unit that they found.

I guess I can ask the dealer, when I call him for the status tomorrow.

If its a BRP case run it, you should have no problems.

what about a reman? Using same case, new gears, bearings, shafts, and seals.

Everytime I have had one that has been redone, I was told to break it in like a motor...

Re: Lower unit break in (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

But my way of breaking in a motor might be different than the "proper" way. I break it in like I'm going to use it. Full throttle for 10-20 seconds at a time, vary rpms, full acceleration here and there. W/ a boat, you gotta use full acceleration to get out of the hole.

I don't use reman cases unless told to by the customers insurance company.

In this case, I would instruct the customer to break them in easy, they may break soon enough on their own.

I had to be careful about what I said, or Rusty will have very nice things to add to your post....
