Looks like it has rotors but no caliper for brakes? it should not be too hard to add calipers and pads if you want to, but it has rotors so you will need change the actuator also as disc's require more pressure.

While BFG Radial T/A P215/70R14 tires have been on my trailer for 34-38 years; they were larger size tire than in Champ 188 photo. Trailer had Radial T/A tires when I bought boat in 1989 (34-years ago).

He finally got all the gel coat sprayed. Just sanding and polishing left. He ended up grinding both sides the complete length of the main bunks. Blisters on both sides and some other minor damage. They have treated me very well and won't settle on not fixing it right. Last time he was trying to keep it at $5000
I'm looking forward to seeing how much better the Tempest performs over the 24 Fury. Thanks for the information
Congrats on the ride. I've been running a 187 Elite for 17 years. You should get a lifetime of great times from that 188. Sucks you had to get all those repairs done right out of the gate but man its gonna be worth it.![]()

Going to Barkley tomorrow. Got to get it set up and hopefully get some fishing in.
Looks nice. Got any good side shots of it?
Not right now. The compressor blew apart on it yesterday. Its back in the shop.
I am not planning on keeping the tires on for long. He had put them on to sell the boat.

You didn’t change oil brands by chance did you? Or do they have an idea why the compressor let go or was it just old?
Optimax oil and they think for some reason the engine tank was low. No alarms and guardian kicked in. The compressor exploded. It wouldn't go into neutral as a piece got into the shift mechanism. I will know more Tuesday
Ouch man, they’ll also need to clean the injectors, fuel rails and small oil filters.
I love my 06 188 elite. Has the 200 opti also. Bought it 8 years ago, 3rd owner. A very solid boat. A great size for fishing docks (lake Ozark) and standing timber (Truman lake). I;ve had a couple times the motor was in the shop too.
Almost back up and running. Turned out a clip holding the wrist pin fell out. He had to order a few small parts and I should get it back early next week.
Another decision to make. Compressor exploded. I had it replaced with a used one at my Mercury dealer as the new ones were on back order. They said they cleaned out the air lines of debris. Took it back out and ran it about 10 minutes before losing power again. Trolled back to the launch and back to the dealer. It was making a chirping noise and they said the compressor was bad again. I found a new one a ways away, bought it and back to the dealer. It was still chirping so they swapped the alternator and spring on the tensioner. Still chirping. The next morning they took it on a water test and it blew while getting on plane. They took the cylinder head off #6 broke a ring and now it needs a liner as well as rebuilt. Their certified mechanic said they had cleaned the lines and there was no way it was their problem. Having an issue finding a reputable shop to rebuild it
sorry again OUCH

Did they do an Oil Pump Prime after replacing the compressor? If not, they broke it.
Sorry this has turned into a nightmare for you.
Great looking champ nice!!
