2006 Sport XS 225 hp issue

Today, after several short runs, as I was planing off, the rpms hit 2000, the horn went off, and the motor started missing. It dropped a little below 2000, caught, then repeated the horn and miss, all in a split second. Repeated the cycle half a dozen times at least. Idle seemed ok, it got me back to the dock. Assuming the computer shut the power off at 2000, but allowed it to idle? Smartcraft gauges showed temps and pressures OK. Oil tank seemed full. Auxiliary tank full. Motor has only 333 hours. Where do I start? Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the shift interrupt switch is sticking.
Port side of motor under the shift linkage slide, two wires, connector located near the bottom of port side cylinder head.
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Additionally (while acknowledging it's your motor to do with as you please), that warning horn does not mean "Try again and see if I healed myself".

The PCM is trying it's level best to let you know something is WRONG, and to keep you from potentially damaging the engine further. Agree that the shift position switch is one of the more common/likely items to cause your symptoms.
