Just a quick Q. New gearcase and new impeller kit. Idle psi is 1.2 psi with good telltale. I did not replace the housing. Normal or problematic. At 4000 RPM I have 12psi. No WOT yet on the new gearcase during breakin. 250 ProXS.

1.2 is low, especially with a new impeller. Did you use a torque wrench when you installed the housing?
Making good people helpless has never made bad people harmless.
Yes, torqued to spec and also use the alignment bolts to make sure the plates and gasket line up properly before installing impeller and housing. The idle psi was the same on the old Torquemaster 1 I removed. This value is from a Merc monitor. Whenever I have removed the screen it has always been clean. I don’t fish any weedy lakes.
From the FAQ topic "Water Pressure 101"...
"General" Water pressure MINIMUM requirements by engine type:
3.0/3.2L & Verado 1.5 to 3psi at idle, 15 psi at WOT

I’ll know more later this week but it did come up to temp pretty quick after I launched. I just splashed her for a little shakedown before I pull it up to Rainy Lake for fall Smallmouth so I didn’t do any stop and runs. Stopped just to shift some as the breakin requires and to put it through some shift cycles. I looked through my Shop manual and it says minimum idle water pressure is .8psi so not sure if there has been a change per a service bulletin or something but I am well above that. I just don’t want to chase a rabbit/problem that’s not there. Not sure about the numbers in the FAQ?
report temps after shakedown please

If it's 1 - 3 psi (minimum) at idle, it's ok.
What gearcase are you running through this rigid break-in with?????![]()
