    Double fluke rig tips...

Thinking or trying this next weekend at a club tx where there are alot of smallies. Do you guys beef up your line just in case you end up with a double? I was thinking of using 10lb pline cx. Think a 20lb braid as a main line and 10lb cx might be better? Going to use the sliding swivel setup.

    Any tips?

What is a sliding swivel setup? Never heard of it.

Thread main line through one swivel eye then tie a swivel to the main line. Tie a tag line to each swivel of varying length then hook and fluke to each.

Not saying its the best way, but i do it as it is in the picture and it works great for me. I tried a 3 way swivel at 1st but the double swivels works better IMO. i tie my longer leader to the swivel that the main line goes thru. I use 20 lb fluoro or 50 lb braid for mainline and use 12 lb fluoro for leaders. Im sure someone will be along with a better way, but this works good for me and I use the donkey rig a lot!

I use this rig however I dont use the 2nd swivel tied to the main line because I had problems with the lines wraping around each other with that.I also use a 1/32oz weighted 5/0 hook on the main line fluke this way there is more darting action from the free running swivel fluke.I have caught many doubles on this rig for schooling fish.I use 10lb line due to the clear water lakes I fish.

It also depends on how fast you want to fish the fluke.

I only fish a fluke weighted style at warp speed so I use all braid on my setup (20lb).

I have a video were Jeff Kriet shows setting up this way. The purpose he said was in case you get 2 fish at once. This way the one fluke/fish can slide on your line. If you use a 3 way swivel it's stationary.
Why do people fish, some say people fish to get fish, this is obviously false

It doesnt necessarily have to be a fluke but it is supposed to imitate a couple of baitfish and a lure/bait that is supposed to run straight ahead will get wrapped/tangled , etc. The fluke works well because they are darting erratically...but feel free to experiment and let us know what you have success on...
