I barely wear anything but flip flops during the warm months. Maybe crocs. Shoes only when I need to. A good pair of flip flops are as comfortable as shoes and I can just kick em off whenever I want.

I'm still baffled over the latest fad of fishing bare foot. That seems like a hook in the foot just waiting to happen.

Jimmy Buffet wrote a song about blowing out a flip flop. That alone should tell you how dangerous they are

I didn't know it was a fad. Been doing for years when the weather is right. It's comfortable as heck to me. Knock on wood, no impalements yet.

Fished this morning barefoot. Now that the highs are only 97 its not like walking on hot lava.

I remember when we were kids and wore flip flops when riding bikes and if weren't careful you would stub your big toe into the pavement and really mess up your toe. There's a big difference in a cheap pair of flat flip flops and a pair of OluKai flip flops with orthopedic foot bed.

What an Amazing Revelation of Wisdom from Professor Hackney considering they called them Thongs well over six decades ago as “Those Pros Are Always in the Know”

I've never been able to wear flip flops. Gotta have that foot support. I work and fish in Hoka. It does seem Hoka has taken the place of New Balance when it comes to market share.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.

I’m still too young to wear Velcro. I wear Hoka Bondi 8 …. Most comfortable shoe money can buy.
Just bought the wife a pair of those, hear how good they were! She is on her feet all day.

As mentioned Olukai flip flops gave arch support as do some Reefs.

Hokas looks decent but that big ass lettering onbtge side and the platform soles kinda kill them for me.

I dont go bare footed, but when it’s hot and dry, I go sock footed. It does feel much cooler and I don’t get my feet sunburnt.

Yeah, to each his own. I'm a real tenderfoot, I've never liked going barefoot even when I was a kid. Now days my feet are all blown out. I hate to walk from bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night without my arch supports.

I called it a fad because I just started noticing it in the past few years with Ott on MLB, then I see Randy Blokett and Matt Stefan and every other guy on YouTube. I sure don't remember seeing Denny Brauer or Zell Roland fishing barefoot.

Maaaan, I'm telling you, put some on and wear them around and you won't worry about what they look like. they are like walking on clouds.

I tore a ligament in my foot climbing out of my boat in addition to fallen arches. I went to. an orthopedic surgeon who specialized in foot and ankle problems who wanted to cut my foot open and cut it into three pieces and screw it back together. In my mind I'm saying "NO, NO, NO! I told her that I wanted to wait until after spring fishing. She told me to get a pair of Hoka Bondi's so I did. That was two years ago and I never went back for the surgery. I get along great just wearing the Hokas (with arch supports) and also some Hoka sandals around the house.

I used to fish in them all summer when I was younger. Then my feet started bothering me. Went thru several options til I discovered Skechers Max cushion. Like Cadillacs for my feet.
