    MACGUARD PROP LOCK

I bought one of these macguard prop locks , reason staying at hotels and yes my buddy had his stolen ,not hard to do but gone in morning stainless which cost a good buck , well anyway they give you a black cap that fits over the lock unit to cover it up and for some reason and it does snap on after a while it's gone so I call and they send me one and couple times out gone , so is there a special way to put these on or don't even worry about having it on . thanks for any imfo

I was once following a guy idling down a channel to the main lake when he just stops. I was kind of annoyed since there was a boat right behind me. It turns out, his Macguard came undone and his brand new at the time $500 prop, was history. He trolled over to shore hoping to dive for it, but being a busy narrow canal, I doubt he ever got it back. He said dealer installed the lock so maybe operator error.

It doesn't install any different than a regular prop nut other than the wrench adapter needed, so I would bet it was an install error.

To the OP, I lost mine as well. It's kind of cheesy how that little cover attaches, I just roll without it.

Not unusual for them to come off. I just let it go and did without it
