What pitch Bravo XS do I need? *other prop stats in thread*

I have read so much about props it makes my head spin. I e tried about 4 on my boat so far

i haven’t tried a bravo XS yet and really want to. Supposedly they run soft in pitch?

    I have a 250 EFI(pro XB)with 1.75 gears. Triton TR20x

    27p Tempest Plus 5800 rpm at 78mph

    28p bravo 1 5300 rpm at 73mph

    26p trophy(ollllddd trophy) 5800 rpm at 77 mph

26p fury 5700 rpm at 76mph*I didn’t give this one much time and adjustment as I didn’t like the way the boat rode with it

    26p tempest plus 6150rpm at 76mph

so what pitch bravo XS do I need to be in that low 6000 rpm range where these motors supposedly like to run and make their best HP?

The XS is the same as the Bravo 1... With 3/8 in of the flared barrel cut off. I think I would try a 27P Bravo 1 XS because it is a 26P with tip cup and should lift the bow much better for you.

1/2 sized ones are even pitch models with added cup

I've heard to stay away from odd number half pitches. All "base" bravos are even pitches like the tempest line.

    Supposedly a 27.5 is a 26 with a ton of cupping added.

This is puzzling. I would have guessed these two would be much closer. My first thought on the Bravo1 would be 25 based upon the Bravo numbers, but 27 based upon the Tempest and Fury.

Mike’s (21XDC) the man when it comes to props. I’m decent on props, but if I need real help, he’s my “go to guy”!

Those XB motors are mean. They have a 6300-6400 limiter if memory serves from the 03 I had. I'd try to prop it to get close to that range for best results personally. Can you raise it up on the jack plate to try and get some more rpm before you buy other props?
in my experience prop testing the bravo xs likes to run the highest of the props you listed and the fury the deepest. That was consistent on three different hulls.

I still have a little water PSI to play with. I’m making about 17lbs at 75mph

im currently at 1.5” below pad which is already higher than most people run on the Earl Bents hulls but I’m on a 10” jackplate.

I think I could get to 1” and still be safe. Just haven’t tried it yet.

I may try run the tempest a little higher to see what happens but I don’t think 1/2” higher is going to pick up the 2-300 RPM I want to get that XB into its max performance

if I spun a 26 tempest to 6200 rpm wouldn’t that 26 bravo xs scream the rev limiter? I’ve alway heard they’re a pitch softer than the tempest.

Maybe give the Fury 26 some more time and adjustment if you still have it. Mine is an Earl Bentz hull TR21X hp, the 26 likes 1.5 to 1.25 below pad. If the wind is right I'll bump in up a tad more. I've tried all the same props you have, and ended up with the Fury 26 full time with the 27 for the cooler weather. I don't know why, but I run the 26 much higher than most recommend. The 25 and 27 run deeper around 2.5 below pad but the 26 just performs better higher on my setup. Maybe its an odd vs even pitch physics, no idea but it's obvious from handling, speed and rpms. I have 12" hydro plate and have moved every prop through every height available.

I'm not opposed to trying that. The fury was pretty dang fast on the boat but it just couldn't quite get back into the RPM range I needed. granted, I ran it at 2.5" deep because everyone said the Furys have to run at least an inch deeper than the tempest.
