The government shutdown stuff has become an annual made for TV drama. It's a lot of huffing abd puffing and grown men holding their breath, throwing temper tantrums because their pet park projects might get cut and they can't skim as much money as usual. In the end it all gets done sooner rather than later.
It's a shame that we let both parties hold us hostage like this to start with.

With all due respect Mark, the word "apprehensions" (in the posted article) has just become a phrase for catch and release at the National level. I'm hoping for better in this case, but honestly doubt it. Abbott with his bussing is very amusing to a small degree but it has exactly the same effect as Biden's bussing in the middle of the night so not a fan.

uummm… the impending government shutdown is the primary focus of anyone who isn’t a Fox News viewer. One party and its subsequent media coverage is trying to distract you from an inability to govern by saying omg look at the border. This has been going on 40 years. The numbers aren’t significantly different than they were pre 2008, the difference is unlike the 90’s and early 2000’s many immediately go ask for amnesty so we have a better count.(which is still barely higher than the previous high numbers under bush). You don’t fix the border issue(if it is one which is questionable given employment numbers) at the border, you fix it by hurting the pockets or jail time of those willingly employing. Preferably while fixing the absolute disaster of an immigration problem in the United States. Building walls is a political stunt.(and if you really pay attention tunnels were already in use before the walls.

Well they have just granted some sort of legal status to the 60,000 or so migrants camped out in NYC so that they can get work permits. Kinda hard to go after employers that are hiring illegals when the govt. grants those illegals work permits. And technically speaking they aren't illegal since they are requesting "asylum". The border counts are for those that are either apprehended or step over the border and wait for the border patrol to pick them up and then claim asylum.

How many have come across the old fashioned way, evading the BP and moving on into the US, who knows what that number is?

I think you answered your own question. The news outlets are controlled by the long arm of Government. We have been fooled for years thinking Government has our best interest. It’s all about power which leads to corruption. It’s a shame that so much blood has been shed to give Us freedom and it seems all for nothing now.
