    SHO trouble shoot

Yesterday while fishing I had made a long run down river. On my way back running about 5000 RPM my motor shut down. Like I had run out of gas. After setting down I could hear the gas pump still running. It fired right up. Headed back in and it did it again. After starting back up again I did not have any more trouble. Any of you had this happen? Any suggestions? I think I will replace the hose and bulb.

Do you have a water/fuel separator on it?

Check the ground wire on the engine side see if it’s clean and tight. It may seem tight but put a wrench on it anyway.

You don't specify the year but it could be your fuel line or bulb collapsing. I had that happen on an old 2 stroke. Would run 4500 all day, get up to 5k and the extra fuel demand collapsed the line and stalled the motor.
I'd do a check to see if the bulb or line feels noticeable soft then take a look at the fuel filter. Could have sucked a wad of crud out of the tank and be clogged up.

I had that problem twice. Once the fuel or lift pump went bad but in that case the engine would only stay running if I kept pumping the bulb. I recently had similar issues and it turned out to be a loose wire where the main power cut off switch is. So check the battery cables and other connections.

Mechanic said that was the problem. I was skeptical but haven't had the boat out since. Will find out this weekend. Thankful that that was all it was.
