HDS Live connected to new Yamaha SHO 250, can't get hours to show..

I have a HDS 12 Live that I have connected to a new Yamaha 250 SHO with a Yamaha connection cable to my NMEA network. I can get RPMs but cannot get engine hours to show up.
I would appreciate any advice on how to get engine hours.
    Thanks in advance...

Step 1 when data that should be there, isn’t, on the instruments page where an engine hours field is shown, is to run the auto select for network data sources. Engine key must be turned on when this is being done so the network sees the engine.

    • menu/settings/network
    • then select Auto Configure. It will pop up a warning to tell you to make sure ALL DEVICES attached to the N2K network are turned on before proceeding. Do that.
    • Then Proceed. Done.

then check the instruments page to see if its now showing where it should be.

If you want to show it as a data overlay item its added the same way as any other data overlay item.

    Does that help?

Moonlighter: Tried your suggestions but still can't get hours on the HDS Live.

Post a photo of the engine instruments page so can see what you’ve got happening.

Go to Settings/Network/Device List. Scroll down until you see the Yamaha EMM (it may be called something else but it should obvious). Then click on the Data button on the bottom right. You will see all of the data coming from the engine controller. Engine hours should be one of them. Most likely you will not have water pressure as that requires a separate module.

This is assuming that you used the NMEA2000 engine interface adapter.

I just got a new SHO and had a Lowrance Interface Cable attached. On my Live 12, I went into Network and then Data Sources. If like mine, you'll see Engine listed. Under that are all the available data options. You should see Engine Hours. There is a box that needs to be checked which will enable you to get your hours.

That's interesting, when I've installed that interface for people and configured their units (Lowrance, Humminbird) I've never had to check any boxes in the Device's data list. And I've never had to do that for any other engine either (Evinrude, Mercury). However, if you are using a data overlay on the screen, then you have to check the engine hours for the data source value to see it on the Overlay.
