    Cowlings... "Don"??

I have an 06 Pro XS. About a year or so I had to replace the cowling. I found a 250 XS cowling which fit my XS like a glove. I've been using that cowling and recently wondered if it is restricting air flow to my XS. The replacement cowling from the 250 XS looks a lot like the regular Opti cowlings. Is the air flow on these cowlings similar?? Is there any reason to worry about changing it?? Working offshore I'm limited on how much I can go fishing. In the time I've owned that Pro XS , April 06 to date, it may have around 200 hours on it... and I would say that is on the high side.

Should I let the cowling be or should I look for the Pro XS cowling replacement???

Although the cowlings are different (sealing difference), I would not change it "just for that reason".

If you can find a part number on it... the 225 ProXS used a 100-881288T32. Some of the 250 XS engines used the exact same part number.

Part number of current cowling + your serial number will give a "very accurate" answer.

The cowling on my 06 225 Pro xs actually had a sticker on the inside of the cowl from Mercury that said 250 XS.. And 250 XS was stamped into the plastic also.. So I don't think you will have a problem..

Was probably a 100-881288-T1 (A1 indicates an "assembly").

Although this is a different cowling, the airflow is "essentially similar"
