uummm… the impending government shutdown is the primary focus of anyone who isn’t a Fox News viewer. One party and its subsequent media coverage is trying to distract you from an inability to govern by saying omg look at the border. This has been going on 40 years. The numbers aren’t significantly different than they were pre 2008, the difference is unlike the 90’s and early 2000’s many immediately go ask for amnesty so we have a better count.(which is still barely higher than the previous high numbers under bush). You don’t fix the border issue(if it is one which is questionable given employment numbers) at the border, you fix it by hurting the pockets or jail time of those willingly employing. Preferably while fixing the absolute disaster of an immigration problem in the United States. Building walls is a political stunt.(and if you really pay attention tunnels were already in use before the walls.

Given its my back yard.... yep..... They have a lot of illegals doing the trades and landscaping.... so it was not that big an issue.....Remember when they deployed 125 national guards to Martha’s Vineyard because 50 illegal aliens were sent there
we have 300 on Otis (Cape Cod base), but so far they have not caused any problems.
Respectfully I've spent most of my adult life living in a state directly affected by the border. I see tme effects daily in many different ways. Often at the street level. I respect your attempts at trying to "educate" me on it but a lot of us get to live it and witness it firsthand so we see it differently. We are not Googling up something on the internet or getting it filtered through a Fox or CNN lens so take that partisan junk elsewhere. If you have such simple solutions I suggest you contact the powers that be and get involved and fet it fixed.
Have you been down around the border or spent any significant time in Texas or a border state lately? Not a weejebdvtrip orca work trip. Im talking an extended stay. Did you do the sane back in 2008 so you can actually qualify your statement that it's not significantly different or are you taking your news reports at face value?
It's not the same at all. Even counties along the border that are historically Democrat are overwhelmed abd asking for help because its so out of hand. Stop trying to frame it all under a political light. No matter who is in charge its a huge problem and only getting worse.
THIS^. Neither side really wants to solve the problem because all their rich constituents benefit from the cheap labor. If you really want to stop illegal immigration, you have to stop the Americans who are hiring them and renting or selling housing to them. Prosecute and severely fine those that hire illegals and confiscate any of their property associated with the hiring/use of illegal labor and then you will eliminate their reason for coming here. If we had went after those who intentionally hire illegals starting decades ago, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Nobody gives a crap if the Gov shuts down. However, there has been a lot of talk from both sides the about illegal immigration crises. If you choose to believe it is not worse than it has ever been, you would be mistaken.
Many of the illegals here startup their own non-registered businesses with only a pickup truck doing any type of trade or a start a food truck service. It's not locals hiring cheap labor anymore.
The bottom line is once they are in......they are not going back. There is far to many areas of the economy they can fulfill labor.
The government shutdown stuff has become an annual made for TV drama. It's a lot of huffing abd puffing and grown men holding their breath, throwing temper tantrums because their pet park projects might get cut and they can't skim as much money as usual. In the end it all gets done sooner rather than later.
It's a shame that we let both parties hold us hostage like this to start with.

Yeah they threaten this every year or so and at the last minute so called concessions are made to appease all sides. All hogwash in my opinion. Plus look at all the buried items in new proposed bills that get approved when the main bill being voted on is approved. Such a corrupt system we have on our hands and only getting worse every year.
Unless you work for the federal government. Just how will a shut down hurt you?
