    Should winch strap come over the top or off the bottom to the bow hook?

    Just replaced it and now I'm wondering if it should come over the top or under the bottom ands to the bow hook this is mine now??? IMG_7091.JPG

    Under the bottom, to keep the bow from bouncing while towing down the road.

    Don't think I have ever seen a setup that has the strap going over the bow roller.

    guess I should clarify I mean should it come off the top of the winch or the bottom of the winch ,I know it has to go under the bow roller to hold it tight????

    I reversed wound mine so the hook doesn't dig into the roller.

    Just like you have it...is comes off the top of the winch and connects under the roller.

    If I were run my strap off the bottom of the spool, it wouldn’t lock into place with the winch lock.

    Kinda like the toilet paper argument, over or under on the roll.

    I say which ever way makes the fit snugger against the bow roller and prevents the bow of the boat from bouncing when trailering.

    Mine is under the winch drum. I tried it the other way after reading the thread but found the hook levered against the roller rather than pulling the boat to the roller.trailer winch 4.jpg
