After you turn 65 here you get what they call homestead exemption. Cuts your home and property taxes in half. But does nothing for truck car or boats personal property taxes.

Red states love their taxes as much or more than blue. Neither color represents or understands the interests of the working class.

That is not the same for every state. Some just freeze it at the current rate and it does not get raised...based upon your income. They will continue to try to F'U regardless of your age...

Being retired we get the homestead exemption. Our taxes are reasonable and haven’t been raised in a long time. We also don’t pay any property taxes on anything except our home.. I agree with spinningwheel’s above post. All in all not a lot of difference if you dig deep enough..

Can’t file for homestead exemption here if your federal income tax return shows more then 45K of income. not only has my property value increased but the local city, county and community college have all asked to raise their mill rates. I’m looking at paying about 2,200.00 more in taxes next year. House is valued at 272,000.00 which is way under valued based on current comps in my development. So I’m not going to file a valuation protest. I’m looking at a tax bill of 7,400.00 next year.

Don’t think that income deal applies here. Most property taxes here go to the school system. Our county school system just approved a 48 million dollar renovation of and old Sears store at a mall here for a career center. They already had a very nice building for their career votec center. I know I used to to natural gas inspections on all the county schools here. 48 million renovation

Ask. Appeal. Ask. Then it’s time to take action. It’s needed all across this country. Real change.

LOL don't look at Florida if you think that's bad. Ours are expected to increase 12% this year.

I hired a professional tax protest company. They do a market analysis every year, and if warranted file a protest on my behalf. They only get paid if they reduce my taxes…they get half of the reduction.
