    2015 200HP SHO

I am looking at a bay boat with this motor. According to diagnostics it only has 89 hours on it and looks basically brand new. From what I have read the 2015 and on were pretty reliable and got past the initial issues. Is this correct? Would I have any way to tell if it was broken in properly or has the "making oil" issue? Anything I should look at in more detail? It's a consignment boat at a marine dealer that doesn't have the greatest reputation around here so I am hesitant in having them do a full check on it and believing what they tell me.

Def should be a reliable engine and yes, that’s past the couple prob yrs. Unfortunately no you won’t be able to tell if it was broke in right but wouldn’t worry about that. Only way to see if it’s making oil is to run it but that’s a prob that can be fixed just by the way you run it if, and that’s a big if, if it was making oil. Personally it’s not a prob I would worry about with that few of hrs. If it’s priced right and what you’re looking for, I’d jump on it. I’ve always liked the idea of finding a “cheaper” 200 SHO as it’s the same block as a 250 and can be flashed to have exactly the same hp

Beings it is on a bay boat you would have a better chance of it being broke in right than a bass boat. Obviously check the oil and see what it is like. I would hope they serviced it before they tried to sell it so it may not tell you much. If you are serious I would try to talk to the owner and set up a time that you or the owner could run it. CJ

Pull the dipstick and see if it smells like gas, its consignment so they may not have changed it to hide the making oil issue.

My 2015 225 SHO powerhead blew at exactly 300 hours......one day after my dealer serviced it. It "made" oil from day one.

Thank you for the info guys. I don't think we are going to work out a deal on this boat. Trailer was in very bad shape and they are not willing to budge on price.
