    Question Head scratcher

Hey everyone! I have a 1987 Ranger 360V with a 175 Mercury Black Max outboard. I changed my starter the other day & heard a click. Didn't have time to start the boat right then, but when I came out to start it several hours later, both the key switch & stern-mounted trim control were dead! I checked all the fuses in the box & they were good. I even checked the 2 on the motor & they were intact as well. All the batteries tested good. Needless to say, any wisdom on where to go from here is deeply appreciated!

When a new problem happens after you fixed something you goofed while fixing. See if the + leads on the solenoid are tight, check your battery cables call a friend that knows electricity.

POst this in the mercury 2.5 L forum
This sounds like a poor battery cable connection, test and clean every connection point on batteries and motor including slave solenoid and starter.
Voltage drop test are in order, google how to do this
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Do you have a circuit breaker on your starting battery? The click may have been a circuit breaker on your battery. If it was, after you reset the breaker, check that you have all the wires connected correctly and that you haven't pinched a wire somewhere. Let us know what you find out please.
