    power trim leak

03 225 opti has power trim leak when transom saver is on while trailering. No leaks in the garage or on the water. Thought it may be overfilled so I removed plug with motor up and a fair amount of power trim fluid came out. Maybe slightly overfilled. It appers that the leak came from the lower bottom left of the trim assembly. I trailered recently and the unit only leaked a few drops. No oil on transom saver or lower unit. Should I service and can water get in the assembly? Can the leak be caused from too much power trim fluid?

    Re: power trim leak (varbs521)

The lower anchor pin for the center trim ram is sealed only by a series of "O-Rings". In cases of overfilling, it IS possible for fluid to be "forced" out at this location.

Keep a VERY close eye on it. Any seal that allows fluid to leak "out" of the trim unit, also leaves the potential for water to leak "in".

If in doubt... have it resealed. You'll want a knowledgeable tech for this... there are a TON of seals in that unit!
