    2006 Mercury optimax idle issue

    Hi everyone, I have and optimax, on first start it does. Restarts quickly, also on first start if I put it in gear it stalls, but also restarts quickly. Drives perfect thanks any ideas

    Need to know more than just Optimax, there are 1.5L (<135hp), 2.5L (135 - 175hp), & 3L (200hp & over) versions each a little different. There are dedicated forums for each (see the addtional forums below this one). The pros will need your engine serial number as well.

    150hp engine serial 1B387562 , I just got the boat not to long ago. I just did the oil bottle for the alarm. I'm a automotive mechanic, was just trying to get some ideas of common issues before I start diving in deep. Thanks everyone in advance

    you got ser manuel ????? for fuel air psi testing ???? look for liquid fuel at air test port at key off or when engine dies , checkout the v6 forum one more down for yo engine lots more info in there on this condition do a search on here and be amazed at the info you'll find here , you really do need a service manual though it helps a ton DO NOT BUY anthing other than OEM MANUAL , the good folks at EUROPEAN MARINE can help you with the parts also tell um JOE sent ya ,,,,,, good luck now

    I figured it out with some help, optimax diaphragm pumps are like diesel engines, if there are any air leaks on the suction side it will cause issues idle ,stalling etc. Check all clamps and make sure they are tight. You can install a clear hose near the diaphragm pump and you can actually see if air is getting in. Mine was a lose clamp.
