Prop Change for Slower Trolling Speed?

I have an 8hp Yamaha T8 4-stroke. At idle speed, the motor will propel the boat a 1.8 - 2.0 mph. I am wondering if I should re-prop to get a bit more slower-speed range?

In theory, Dropping pitch in 1/2 will slow the boat down 1/2 of current speed.

Have you tried to tilt the motor to such an angle that the prop is barely below the surface. That should make it lose some forward thrust, but you would have to try to see how much? You could put a 2 x 4 under the swivel bracket or something similar to get the required degree of tilt. Of course you would have to remove it before trying to put it on the plane.
