    Prop recommendations

Recently re-powered with SHO 175 on 2016 BassCat Sabre. Having hole shot issues, blocks out the sun, takes forever to get up on the pad. Presently running Tempest Plus 24 pitch, jackplate about even. I think this is too much wheel, recommendations???

Bravo1 style propeller. Marks Razor4 XL is a good choice

    Don't know if it helps any but I ran a 23 Tempest on a 2015 Sabre with a 2016 Mercury 150 4 stroke.

I've heard that the 175's have a different gear ratio, which makes them difficult to prop on bass boats. This is why Skeeter lowered the max on the ZX190 (now the ZX150) from 175 to 150. What RPM are you getting at WOT? I'd guess that 24 is too big and you likely need a 22 or maybe a 23.

The 1.86:1 ratio shouldn't make any issue. According to the Yamaha Performance Bulletin for the Sabre, the Yamaha SHO 23 Prop is recommended. However, I think the 4.6 second hole shot with the 23 SHO Prop is less than ideal. The 22 SHO prop is probably a better choice if hole shot and throttle response is preferred.

Thanks for the replies! I found the issue was a bad set up. My prop to pad was 6 1/4 inches. WAY too deep for the motor to pick up the boat. Raised to 4", jumps out of the hole, 64 at 5500 rpms right now. Still got some adjustments to play with.
