    Repower value question

I am Running a 2004 206DC Elite, I put a 2015 250 pro on it back in 2017 runs great no issues, I have considered getting a 250 4 stroke for it, if I were ever to sell would the 4 stroke add enough value to make the purchase worth while…… let’s say would it add $10k to the current value?

Guess that depends on what the current value is. You definitely would have to run it a few years to make it pay somewhat. What kind of shape is your 2015 Pro XS(?) If you sell it then you could take that amount off the current price of the boat which would help the money put into the 4 stroke.

IMO probably not. If I’m in the market for a 20 year old boat I doubt I have the extra money cause it has a newer 4 stroke. If I do have that kind of money I’m not buying a 20 year old boat. You already have a newer ish engine. If you want to upgrade do it for you, I don’t think it will add very much at all over what you have. Again imo.

Would keep running the 2 stroke until it has to be replaced. Was thinking the same thing a few months ago, the 4 strokes look nice and sound great but could not justify 25k upgrade to my 14 year old 198.

I recently repowered my 05 206DC Elite with a Merc 250 four stroke. My decision was easier. was running the original ETEC that was on it. Although never had a real issue with the ETEC, I knew it would hurt the overall resale if I decided to sell it. I do fish a lot, but cannot justify the new boat prices these days. Things are out of hand. I typically fish 25-30 tournaments a season, but at the end of the day, it is just a hobby. Cannot justify a 100K spend on a new boat for a hobby. With the re-power, I gained the motor warranty which is really my biggest concern. My boat is older, but I would say it is nicer than 80% of the similar Champions out there. At least it is to me..... There are a few things I would gain going to a newer boat, but again, not worth the 100K price tag to get into one. I do agree that adding the new motor could make it harder to sell if I ever decide to. The other side of that is Champion has a huge loyal following. Most of us know what we get when we buy one.

I put a new motor 4 stroke on my old boat. I did it out of necessity and for me. The old motor broke. My boat is a piece of crap but it does a really good job of getting me to the fish and back. Forget the money, what do you want to fish with now and for the next 5 or ten years? I think the most important thing is do you love your boat, if so, and you are going to keep it, repower. Motors ain't gonna get any cheaper nor will boats.

now that charger has the hull design its really still a current boat
you're not going to get many more perks-- the elites had just about everything on them
to buy a new motor just because... a 4 stroke wont be any faster or even better on fuel -- unless you drive it like a ranger--bow down and slow
new motors are a lot of money and then you have the headache of set up
    my '06 198 ran 72mph with a 2stroke
never come close to that with the v8

I think 10k added to the value is a good realistic number. What people tend to forget is they have a 20k boat and add a 20k motor and want to sell it for 40k (just rough numbers). Well the boat isn't worth 20k without the original motor. You're basically selling a hull with a 20k motor. IMO only repower if you plan to keep it for a minimum of 3yrs before selling it.

I also have a 206 and have been tempted to repower to a SHO (currently have a 300hpdi) but so far my motor has been solid so just can't justify getting a new motor. I'll also be done paying it off this winter and would like a newer modern boat but those price tags I don't think I could ever pull the trigger.
