    Modifying Do-It Molds

Do most do-it molds accepts a larger size hook than specified? If not, is it easy to modify them? What are your techniques? Can you do it by only pouring every other cavity?
Right now I'd like to get a shad head mold and use a lighter and larger hook than the specified O'Shaughnessy Heavy Wire hook. I'm wanting to use the MUSTAD 32746BLN NEEDLE POINT ABERDEEN JIG HOOKS or a Gamakatsu/Owner for my swimbaits. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It does not matter how many cavities you pour at once. Most of the time I only pour 1 cavity at a time.

To modify the molds I use a dremel tool. I will place the hook in the mold then lightly tap it with a hammer on the closed mold to get a light outline of the areas I need to remove material.

Thanks, Brad. If the hook slot in the mold is for a heavier gauge hook than you want to use, can you use a little jb weld to make the slot smaller or will it be fine the way it is?

You're welcome. I would try it first, it will probably be fine.
