Can't speak for the emp 9. I have a ronin 10mm and love it. Very accurate and a beautiful sight to see.
I have a Springfield EMP 4, about 4-5 years old,it has ran flawlessly. Shoots great, I think the Ronin is just the latest version, I also like that the grip is a little smaller than a standard 1911. Just fyi if you want extra mags. You have to get them from springfield.
Thanks, going to gun shop/range in the morning, they have one that I can shoot and if I like it they also have a new one for sale...yes the ronin is a newer version, old version they stopped making in 2015 and new version (and new name "Ronin") came out in 2017. I like the wooden grip look and two tone on the Ronin...
I have had bad experiences with my own and other folks 1911s that are shorter than commander length.
Also, I think a 1911 in something other than 45 or say 38 super is sacrilege but that is probably just me.
One thing to think about with 1911s is that that slide is thin and easy to conceal. Even a government length can be concealed easily and in most cases comfortably. Extended sitting in some chairs can be an issue though. For me a 4.25-5" barrel is perfect. However, the butt is what can print sometimes. I have always wanted a bobtail as that corner is the problem spot. I have always thought a commander slide with an officers frame would make a good combination.
I do not like the Springfield company because of their past political viewpoints but I did cave in a year ago or so and bought a nice blued government model that has just the bare minimum features that I like. They do build a great 1911 for the money. I think their custom shop stuff is overproved these days but a have some trigger time behind a few of them and they are excellent.
Their politics aside, they make a great pistol. They point naturally for me, fit my hand, and run run run. Accuracy too is good. Thinking my next SA will be a xdm 10 3.8".
Got it yesterday and not going to range until tomorrow. Spent some time breaking down and putting back, it's a challenge with some tricks. Over time it will be easier.
Give us a range report. Nice buy!!
Terrible picture....Not able to go to range maybe tomorrow but not sure...
