I asked a rep from a major company (won't say which one to protect the innocent) what the bennefit is to giving fluorocarbon a color, for example green.
He said fluoro is like fiber-optic wires. It will illuminate when light is shined through it. So, he says if using clear fluoro and the sun is hitting it at just the right angle (basically parallel with the line), the light will travel through and illuminate the line a bit under water. He says the coloring helps dampen this effect, and that in a couple of years, you won't be seeing clear fluoro around.
Anyone buy this explanation?
