    Seaguar Inviz X problems

I bought a spool of this line in 12lb to try on my deep diving crankbait rod and the very first cast with a 3/4oz plug the line snapped. I retrieved the plug thinking it broke at the knot and it didn't, so I set it up again and maybe got 8-10 casts and it did the exact same thing. I know I wasnt rubbing the line against any structure to cause any nicks in the line. Line seemed like good stuff but when it snapped on me it left a bad taste in my mouth.

make sure you wet the line before tying the knot down or it will burn the line. I think this line is the best out there and you will love it. Also recommend the palmar knot.

I did wet the line down when tying my knots. Should I go to 15lb for deep cranking?

I use 12lb for cranks. Maybe you had a backlash and if so that can damage flouro line. Could be your drag is to tight and the line digs into the spool causing damage. Just try it a while longer becasue its good line but if it gets kinked at all it will break. Good luck

See thats why I'm confused on why it broke. I didnt have any backlashes and after the first break I would hold my two fingers on it as I was reeling it in to feel any bad spots and didnt feel anything. I havn't lost hope in it as I just ordered 2 more spools today.

I have used this line for all my worm/jig fishing and love it. Never experinced a problem yet. Have wanted to try some for cranks also but the $$$ has kept me runnig Gamma on my cranks/spinnerbaits and so forth.

Paul, it's funny you should write about this. I was ready to write about the same experience I had this past weekend, when I ran across your post. I've used Seaguar CarbonPro for 6 years and love it; however, I decided to try InvisX (12# test, too, by coincidence), thinking that since it's newer and more expensive it must be better. My fishing buddy did, too. We hadn't been fishing long when he made a cast and his 1/2 oz jig went flying, breaking at the recently-tied knot, not once but twice. Another time, he cast and the line broke coming off the reel. We both lost jig after jig on hang-ups, with the line breaking easily at the knot. A fish broke my line flopping around in the boat. Later I lost a big smallmouth at the boat when it jumped and broke my line before I could net it. I decided to go back to the CarbonPro. Too bad I bought a 1000 yd spool of InvisX. I would give it away, but I'd feel guilty for doing that to anyone. CarbonPro is great. InvisX is #@!^##!

Seaguar Inviz X is the only floro I use. With the problem you described I'd suspect 2 things. Check the eyes of your rod to make sure there arn't any nicks that could be damaging the line. I use a cotton q-tip. If theres a nick it'll snag the cotton. If there are no problems with your equipment, I'd suspect you got a bad spool. Return it and be sure and write down the lot number, and exchange it for a spool w/ a different number.

Re: Seaguar Inviz X problems (shawn706)

Shawn, after this happened to Paul, to my buddy, and to me--all of us with different spools--I'm afraid to try InvisX again. I went to Seaguar's website (www.seaguar.com) and discovered that they have a new line called AbrazX, which, according to a comparison chart on the website, seems superior to CarbonPro. I've sent them an email asking if they would exchange a 1000 yd spool of it for my remaining 850 yds or so of the InvisX. Anyone tried the AbrazX yet?

I just received a response from Seaguar's customer service. They are exchanging the InvisX for the new AbrazX.

Thanks for sharing you and your buddys experience. I've checked my rod tips and no nicks, I didnt backlash the line causing any weak spots so I'm leaning toward a bad spool. I'm gonna try and contact Seaguar as well.

I just got a reply back from Seaguar as well. they said to send the unused back and they will trade it for AbrazX. I wonder if I should send all the spools to them that I bought?

I've been using it as of lately and haven't noticed any problems. If it starts giving trouble. I'll be going back to P-line Halo.
