97 282FS Prop to Pad height

    97 Stratos 282fs
    97 150 Fast strike

    So I just installed a raker 24p and a pro hi-jacker 6” setback jackplate.
Everyone says start at 3 1/2”. There’s no way that’s gonna work. Prop was ventilating as soon as I rose out of the water. I then lowered to 4”. Still the same. Then I bottomed the plate out around 4 1/2” it was better then, but still couldn’t trim much at all without blowing out. Is this just a fish and ski problem? Or do they need a lower prop to pad height? I can move the motor down to the lowest hole on the motor, I’m on the 1st hole from the top. I’ll move it to the top hole. Is this normal for this boat or am I doing something wrong?

sure you measurement is correct? 3.5 should be fine? is prop fresh or worn?
