    Organizing Crankbaits???

How do you keep all of your crankbaits organized? And what do you take to the lake with you every time out?

My dilemma is that I have WAY too many! Please help me!

    Re: Organizing Crankbaits??? (Dustmaker)

I have three crank bait boxes, packed to the hilt and about 80 hanging on peg board in my garage still in the box. So I know your dilemma. I found it best to separate them by depth. I have one 3700 box with 0-6ft one with 6-12ft and one with 12+ft. This system seems to work pretty good for me the only down fall is once you get up to the deep diving cranks you can't put as many as you want in one 3700 box, so I narrowed it down to a few basic colors and styles and throw in a couple that I think may work that day.

i do about the same thing as BigCheese.....mine are in BPS Crankbait boxes and i think you can hold more in them than the 3700 boxes.....mine are labled Shallow for the 0-6'....Medium...6-12'....and Deep for 12+ like DD22s and DD14s....im not a big fan of the deep crankin like DD22s so i dont have a ton of the deep ones but jsut a few main colors

I have basically the same system. Shallow crankbait box. I have a Medium crankbait box for shad and baitfish patterned baits, and one for chartruese and crawfish baits. and for my deep diving crankbait box I employ a Plano 3730....the box that is 3" tall. It is a great box for deep divers

I keep mine separated by depth as well. I don't use a whole lot of different colors, so I can get all of my depth specific colors in one 3700. But I also have a couple for those that are near and dear to me, older baits and some that are just not common enough to keep with the others.

    Re: Organizing Crankbaits??? (Javelin389)

I was trying to keep all of mine seperated the same, by depth, but now I have over 10 3700's just flowing over with CB's! Lots of these were my Fathers, but he never seemed to come up with any type of system. He was kinda like me, or I guess the other way around, about grabbing ahand full of what he was going to use that day and throwing them in a big tray.

Do you guys take only the colors that you think will work that day, or do you take the depth that you think will work that day?

Falcon has the best box for hard baits. Cant get as many in them but it will make you narrow down what you really need. I have one for traps, one for 1minus, one for bandit 100s, one for topwater and two of the larger size crankbait boxs. when i stay at a hotel...those boxes go in the room along with the rods and the boxes with the soft baits stay in the boat.

Falcon boxes are about half the width of planos so you can carry more. They are a little more expensive but have better latches and dont warp or crack

Over time I was able to weed thru my baits and narrow down what I like to use. My crank colors are pretty limited, as are the different types/makes of cranks I have.

    Re: (tnjavelin)

I am going thru them right now. I will have a bunch of the stuff that I do not want for sale very soon!

p.s. If you think there is a lot of CB's, you should see the spinnerbaits and plastics I have!

    Re: (Dustmaker)

Get some Plano 3730 boxes. You will be able to fit so many more crankbaits per box with much less wasted space. It works great, especially with deep diving cranks.

Yes, you have too many, I will IM you my address and you can send them to me for proper disposal

I agree with the 3730 boxes, or the Plano flipsider would work too.

Have you looked into the Cooks go to tackle system? Just put one in my boat and it works great. BUT, you will need more than one....maybe twenty or so...lol!! Seriously though, look into it, great system easy to get to and saves room. Just my 2¢.
