How to keep from losing water in livewell while trailering

My grandson and I fish a circuit that allows trailering. Yesterday we had about a 30 min ride back to weigh in. When we got there we had lost half of our water in both wells. The plugs were in and tight and wells were full when we started so it all had to slosh out the overflow. Anyone have this issue? If so how did you cure it?

Rodney, do you just remove the covers so you can put the plugs in and out as needed? I have the live well scuppers so staying full on the water is no problem.

I see you have a 20 model, is the manifold below the rubrail in the back? Reason I ask is I had one of the earlier boat where that manifold is under the rail and had the same issue you are having. If it’s under the rub rail they had an issue I found that they were self draining/ syphoning, they installed a vent in the lines took about five minutes to fix. I’d bet that’s the issue, they were only in the early 20 models and that’s why the moved the lines up about the step pad in the 21’s.

CX21, yes it’s below the rub rail. It also has the max air vents if that makes any difference.

Makes no difference, call Caymas and tell them you have a self draining issue with your livewells, they are fully aware of that situation and can fix it. Your dealer should know as well, when I figured that out for them in January of 20 they were able to fix it very quickly became I had a two day trailering tournament, Caymad overnighted the vents and dealer install pad in five minutes. They actually fixed the ones on the lot in the same day.

I talked to Caymas today and was told they were not aware of a live well syphoning issue on the 2020 models. Go figure. But I was enlightened on how to find the harness for the ACC switches in order to utilize them.

Call Rick at Caymas customer service and tell him what it’s doing and ask him for a longer pump out hose with a loop in it. That’s what I was told to tell you ask for.
