2019 520L the good, the bad, & the ugly

I am looking at a 2019 520L with Merc 250 4s and wanted to get the skinny on these boats. Compared to the C and R models how are the L's and what are the differences?

I am coming from a 2019 Falcon F205 with a 250 SHO that was big on performance but not on quality.

I am concerned about fit and finish. top speed, and the boat compartments staying dry.
I also would like to find out if these boats are prone to cracking ect. I have heard a few stories about hulls delamination on the newer Ranger boats.
What else should I look at? Are the new Ranger trailers solid? That was a sticking point on the Falcon.
How is Ranger to deal with on any warranty type issues?

    Thanks for the info
    Greg

I have a 2018 "L Boat" I purchased new and suspect the 2019 version is the same.

Speed- This is a 67-70 MPH boat depending on elevation, load, ambient air temp, set up, etc. Would I consider this a fast boat, no. But I did not buy it with that purpose in mind so therefore I am not disappointed.
Fit / Finish- Typical Ranger which means fit / finish are at a high level.
Dry boxes - I have not had any water intrusion and have fished in gully washers.
Cracking- My L boat regularly sees rough water and I do not have a single crack. Hope this helps you
    Trailer- built like a tank

Yes that is good to hear. Speed is not a determining factor just trying to set my expectations. It is hard to fins out much on the L series boats. maybe I need to look at the sticky's

When I bought mine they still offered the "C Model" and it was the lesser expensive of the 2 with the "L" being the top of that line.
I heard but have not confirmed that the "C" hull was slightly different and slightly faster but again, you know how the rumor mill works.

There will likely be no warranties for you buying a used boat other than something on the engine maybe?

I have 2020 520L and have absolutely no complaints. Boat is 68-70 depending on weight. She handles well and the ride is good. Fit and finish are top notch. When you are up on the front deck I'm not sure there's many that can compete. The front deck is one of the widest in the industry. Great fishing platform that is super stable. My boxes have never gotten wet and I fish lake Erie often. No signs of cracks. Trailer is one of the best and make sure you get the one with the emergency brake. I did have my touch pad that starts the boat go out. Dealership replaced it no charge.

I’m happy with my 520L. It’s not fast but it’s the most stable boat and to me has the most fishablity of any boat I’ve been on. Ride is good and mine has had minimal issues which Ranger has handled. Best boat Ive owned or fished from when the trolling motor is down.

2021 521L with 250 merc is what i have bought new in May 21. Not fast, but has been dependable and no cracking issues. Gel coat still looks great. Have ran in multiple rough water scenarios and has done well. Have trailored it 7 trips to michigan from KY, as well as at least 8-10 other 4 hour one way trips in KY and TN without issues. No leaking in compartment lids, no electrical/touch pad issues as of yet. Have only had 2 minor issues that were from initial rigging at dealer but fixed in less than an hour by them. My FIL who came from a stratos and recently to a triton tr20 always comments on the front deck and stability. We are both 2 big guys and have never felt cramped when both up front. I have not owned other a bunch of other boats and cant comment on many other brands as far as their ride and such as this boat is the only one ive driven much more than 1-2 times, but I have no complaints on the ride. I do think the C boats are quicker than the L. Other differences in C and L are cosmetic like the seats/console. Cant speak for the R as never been in one.

I have a 2019 521L, 250 Pro XS 4S, 23 Fury, 10" Atlass. Don't know my prop/pad measurment, but no holeshot problems with plate up to about 9. Normally start with it all the way down, but when on Okeechobee or real shallow can get up with plate fully raised & 3 guys on board seated normally & once up have to lower to keep from blowing out. Haven't really tried too hard for top end with plate above 10. 0 to 10 worth about 1 or 2 mph for me. Didn't buy this big dog expecting to win boat races . Edit.- corrected plate numbers .

I have a 520L and for me the higher I can get the jackplate on take off the faster she comes out. At WOT she likes to be around 8-10 on the plate gauge. Any lower and she will start to walk and anything over 12 I lose lift. I can launch at 20 on the plate but as soon as I do I have to lower the plate or she will blowout some.

Had a 2018 521L, now running a 2020 521L. Fit and finish top notch. Not fast, 68-70 MPH. All compartments are dry. Ride and comfort is great.

    I have a 2019 521L.

    Excellent fit and finish.
    Excellent ride.
    Very stable.
    Very dry.
    70 mph.

Awesome boat but the seats suck ass, they rattle, they stay loose and everyone knows it but they keep installing the same trash to this day.
