1998 ranger Cherokee 207 top speed

This Cherokee 207 is a V hull with 90 Johnson. Boat runs great but all I can get out of it is 36 mph. The prop is a 14 x 19. I really think this boat should do 42 ish from other boats I’ve owned.

Anyone have something close to this boat? What speeds do you get and with what prop?

What rpm’s are you at and what model of 90 hp? And do you know the weight of your hull? I agree that you should be able to at least see 40 mph. And what model of patrol is also important.

That sounds like too small of a prop to me. What RPMs are you running? I agree, that setup should be around 40 unless you are two people carrying everything but the kitchen sink.

I was getting 34MPH with a 75HP Mercury in my 207 a few years ago. Now with a 2000 217 ,90 Johnson ,... got it up to 39MPH with just me alone .

I have a 115 on mine and get about 45ish, depending on the time of year at about 5800 to 6000 rpms

    You're short 500rpm, so a 17 will give you 5500 and get closer to 40. I had a 2001 90 Johnson, sitting on a 17' Logic (1000# hull). With a 19" Turbo1, it ran 43.

After looking at your RPMs, I agree with GeauTide you need a smaller prop not a bigger one to get the RPMs up. My first inclination was wrong. I was guessing by just your speed and the motor and a previous boat I owned.
