518 troll motor pan

I have a 98 518 dvs and thinking about putting a Baldwin iron tray in her. Anyone cut into a 518. Anything I should be aware of. Thx

This should help !! I used a Die Grinder with a cutting blade instead of a skill saw tho.

I put one in on my 487. Not expecting anything. Just asking before I cut into it. Thx

Expect to have to cut into the center storage and be sure to disconnect the wire for the light before cutting. You'll need to remove the half pipe that it runs in and then splice in additional wire to go around the pan to reconnect the light. Also, after you cut the hole, cut it either across into 3 parts or cut it corner to corner. The deck is 2 layers thick and has foam stuck to it !! Not sure why the pics loaded out of order, but you'll get the idea.

Are you talking about a light in the front storage? Don’t think mine has one. Did you seal the foam with anything. Also Did you run the drain to the front Appreciate the insight.

Yes, for the center locker. Power comes from the front thru a half pipe to the light. I did not seal the foam. I ran he drain tube thru the foam to the keel and then sealed the pan to the deck with a bead of Plumbers Putty.
