    RT188 Props

I just purchased a Ranger RT188 with a Four stroke Mercury and a stainless steel prop. My question is what SS prop does Ranger ship with this setup. The reason I ask is, the dealer set mind up with a Solas new saturn 21", and I have not seen anyone running that prop and was wondering what to expect. I know you guy's have worked with about everything, and would like any feed back you could give.
Thanks for any information you can provide.

I was under the impression that the stock prop is an aluminum. I think as far as stainless goes it would be whatever the dealer decided to put on it, but I could be wrong. I am curious to see how your prop preforms. I've been looking at stainless props to replace my aluminum (once I get the motor broken in), and the Solas seemed a little more cost effective compared to the Laser's

Do yourself a big favor and verify the part number on that Solas prop is a "Solas Mercury Part Number"

I don't know what the mercury part number would be, but the part #1431-130-21 is what's on the Solas prop. And yes aluminum is standard but, you can oder with stainless.

Did you get your boat with a jack plate? Those without a jack plate seem to be running best with a 20p prop. Some are running the 19p x7 prop from merc but best top speed numbers are still being seen with a Laser ss prop. Another thread about a guy running a 21p laser with some cup added to it running mid 50s with a jack plate. Not really alot of info on the solas prop that i have seen.

#1431-130-21 is what's on the Solas prop
That is the correct part number for the Mercury.

Thanks for the feed back. Everything i've read leads to the Lazer II 20", so I was concerned when the dealer installed the solars 21", and that brand is new to me. I will try to get it on the lake this week, if the weather will allow and see what it will do. I will keep you posted with results. And no I didn't get a jack plate. Thanks again for your feed back.

Solas makes a good prop. Will be interesting to see what it does. You might like it. If it is a high volume dealer he might be on a different but good track...who knows? I don't think anybody has run the Solas SS prop but some have run Solas aluminum including me. I like the Laser II 20P best of all I have tried which is about 8 different props....the gearing is a little different on the Yamaha though as is the motor itself.

Well I need to report the results of my Solas 21" prop after 3 hours of breakin on my new Ranger RT188 With a Mercury 4 stroke 115 hp. Results are not very good, I was only able to get 42mph @ 5200 rpm with 2 on board and fishing ready. The prop has good lift, and a fair hole shots, but to much prop for this boat. I believe I need to have my dealer get me a Lazer II 20", from what I've read I should get about 50mph @ 5800-6000 rpm, are does anyone have another suggestion. Thanks for any input.

Mine came with a Solas 21 pitch aluminum. Too much prop, I could get 44 with a tail wind but it really struggled to get over 40. Now running a 19 pitch Turning Point aluminum and it hits 47 with ease. If I hadn't dinged my Solas I would have took it back.

I know this is an old thread but which turning point aluminum prop did you run to get 47.
